Peter &
Lene
Coogan´s
was established in 1996 with our breeding name - and
from the beginning it was only Lene who was the founder
of Coogan´s.
In
November 1996 Lene ran into Peter at the cafe where Lene
was working- and it was love at first sight :-).
Peter
moved together with Lene almost immediately after and he
loved the cats from day one. At that time there were 5
cats - 4 Maine Coons and 1 housecat.
After a
while Lene had planed to have one more cat - a male. But
Peter did not think that we should have more cats - and
that was the first time in our life together that we did
not agree :-) After a while Peter got hooked on the
shows and breeding. Now we almost fight when we have to
bring the cats to the judge - because we both want to
present them.. Silly people - but never the less very
funny :-)
Peter
have the most lovely, sweet and affectionated son,
Rasmus - who also love our cats as we love Rasmus.
Rasmus has been a big part of our house and cattery and
has also been on shows with us. And all
the cats love Rasmus too :-) - and we love Rasmus very
very much.
All our cats are special
and we love dem deeply.
We love our cats very
much and will NOT sell our kittens to any one, who will not take good care
of the cats and love them for the rest of their life.
Kittens sold for pet will all be neutered
before leaving the house.
You can tell us your opinoin, but never the
less - this is not up for discussion !!
We love to follow our kittens and to have
pictures of them in their new home.
It means a lot to us when we get pictures
of them and hear the stories of their mischief, in their new home.
All our cats live together with us inside
and outside. We have no door closed and our garden is fenced.
You are more than welcome to
contact us for further information about our cats or kittens.

Health &
Testing
We do screen our cats
regulary for HCM and all our cats are tested for the MyBPC3 gene. We do
use HCM/N (heterozygote positive) cats in our breeding program.
We do use the
knowlegde of the this gene in our breeding planning - but we will not
let us be ruled by it. We do use this knowledge as a tool for our cats
and breeding program - but it is not a religion for us to have only
MyBPC3 N/N cats in our cattery. The scientist has too low knowledge of
how this gene works and what it does - they only know that there has to
be more genes involved before developing the HCM disease.
We do test our
kittens - which are sold for breeding - but only on the buyers cost if
they want to know before having the kitten.
We do only sell
breeding kittens to breeders who are registred with pedigree name in
either FIFe, TICA or CFA. We will not start new breeders up - before
they know what it takes - in good times and bad times - and have had
some experience with the whole breeding process.
When you decide to take a cat home - you
must realize that you have a big responsibility and always take the very
best care of the cat. No matter what. The cats has not asked to live
with us - but we have made that decision for the cat. Therefor you need
to be sure that you always can give the cat the very best and always
seek Veterinary when needed. It is not free to take that responsibility
- so before you take that decision - think twice. For your sake - but
mostly for the cats sake :-)
